Balu added comment he supported the idea but needed more details about how it would be worked out. Robi added that more discussion, planning and perhaps research needed to be done, but is supportive.
8. STAKEHOLDERS QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Bob: Does not feel Slab City should go for the same price per acre as East Jesus and Salvation Mountain as the remainder of slab city is more residential than attraction/museum.
BB – reiterated what Jim Porter stated at Niland meeting, that most likely the amount per acre for the larger parcel of land would most likely be less.
Paul asked Balu where the kids Jungle Gym would be placed…(up to Parents) Robi added that neighbors would be asked as well.
Paul asked what the Imperial Valley Solar Funds would be used for. Marty gave Paul a copy of our preliminary draft budget that will be the basis for funds requested, which includes purchase of the land, office equipment, food security projects, trash dumpster project, Toilet facilities, administrative costs, Bod and community training, etc.
Sarah announced she has a trash bin that she will allow slabbers to use. Several BOD members gave her advice about what to consider in that process and how to avoid challenges.

Motion made to have next BOD meeting on May 14, 2016 at The Haven, 8AM (Due to heat). by Bill, 2nd – Doc

ATTACHED OFFICER REPORTS
SCCGI – Secretary Report – March 5, 2016 ROBI
A. CORPORATE BOOK:
The Corporate book is up to date!
B. MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS
Working on a simplified Membership form is still in process.
We have a WEBSITE! http://www.sccgi.org/
Pictures of the Board of Directors has been added. Reminder to all BOD
members to please submit about 3 paragraphs detailing experience that you
bring to the charity.
Please send by email to the Secretary or post on Directors
FB website, or arrange a phone conference with Secretary for dictation.
D. OFFICIAL SCCGI EMAIL SYSTEM
***MEETING NOTE: Lynne pointed out that transition from
Beamspeed needs to be done over a one year time frame…
Secretary agrees and will make transition over 1 year time.
Google Non-Profit Program allows SCCGI to have an OFFICIAL email
SCCGI.ORG Email should be used for all official email
Emails, contact lists, and contact phone numbers that were
obtained through SCCGI former Official Email at Beamspeed,
are Corporate Assets, and thus belong to the Corporation.
I recommend a motion needs to be made to drop Beamspeed
email as being projected as the Official SCCGI email and add one
email that is info@sccgi or other as the official SCCGI email.
All email addresses from the Beamspeed account that were
considered the corporate email address needs to be converted to
a CVS file and kept in our records.
A mass email should be sent out on Beamspeed noting that
Beamspeed is no longer the Official Email Address and
encouraging them to add email@example.com to their contact list
followed by a link to the email sign up form.

**Imperial County Solar Money Grant Process
Formal Application Packages are almost ready from the county and they
will send one out to us.
El Centro Foundation Center is looking for new building, so I could not get
access to their search function for more specific Grants that would pertain
to us. That system can be accessed in San Diego and LA area.
This particular non-profit in El Centro is to help other non-profits…I will be
following up with them next week to start developing relationships with
others that we may be able to add to our Bod as advisors.
Golden State Water: There is a corner near the Golden State Tanks in
Niland that we could possibly put added pipes so that we could access
water, but we need to find out how to put inn a money dispenser. Or just
pay for it at the Corporate rate…Niland Chamber’s next door neighbors are
on the corporate rate.
Fountain of Youth: Fundraising
Several different possibilities for fundraisers AT FOY
Mobile Cause Fundraising
$2400 for 1 year for Mobile Cause Fundraising platform…YES, we NEED it.
Why? cuz MOST people have mobile phones and using them more and
more…This captures their mobile number and we can send them updates
they will SEE!
Here is more info to consider from Evan, who gave the online demo (which
I invited all to, so please arrange a demo with him, you will like it).
Evan Pathi <epathi@>
1) Gofundme does not make it easy for donors to donate OR your
supporters to “become fundraisers” and help them fundraise for you. And
that’s why you failed last time to raise any real money.
2) You should get the word out to people better , whats the best way you
can do this? Get their mobile numbers and send every update straight to
their mobile phones. They will see it every time.
3) You have to do a mix of fundraising tactics to succeed. Not just have a
website where people have to go to donate to you guys. Do an event
fundraiser , empower youth to fundraise on behalf of you and get “text to
donate” so people can donate “on the go”. (Robin note: THIS is powerful!
you gotta see it – ask him to do a demo for you!)
4) Sometimes getting external help fundraising consultants do help when
looking at timing and execution of strategies.
We are the only platform/software/solution out there that can help you in all
above. You can get started with an investment of $2,340. We will have you
up and running in 24 hrs.
I’ve also provided you with a condensed handout version (given below click
link) you can easily print and share with your board or management team.

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE REPORT
COMMITTEE CHAIR – LYNNE BRIGHT
I am Still updating both programs at least once a week.
Social Media will help. Adam has volunteered to start a social media program for us
through FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter, and PinInterest. I propose that we let him have
access to the page Trish created “Slab City Community Group” and let him set up the
Instagram account for us. He has helped me on other fundraising projects and has
increased those projects social media profile ten fold. It is a time consuming task and
help is always wanted. Adam lived at Slab City a few years ago and is dedicated to
helping us achieve our goals.
What I need help with is writing copy. Tell your story. People want to hear from us. They
want to know we are current and that we are working towards our goal.
Bio’s on the website Robi built would be great. Just a few lines to say who you are and
why Slab City is important to you.
We are still working on the granting foundations list. It is divided up between Andra,
Sandra and Robi to find foundations that fit our needs. This is ongoing.
Boeing Employees did not get back to me in time for their Feb 28 deadline. Their next
funding deadline is April 28.
Coachella Music Festival also did not get back to me about having a table or booth at
their event. We are not really ready for it anyway, but we can still work on this for next
I’m still sending our emails linking to our fundraising pages. My next target are media
contacts. This is a good time of year for these contacts as the Prom is coming up and its
a great time for taking pictures and sharing them.
The Prom: This is NOT exclusively an SCCG Inc. event, but we support it. In case you
didn’t know, the event was started by Robin and her friend Shannon, about 10 years
ago. Its an event at the end of the season for those who consider themselves residents
of Slab City. Its the Prom you didn’t enjoy or maybe even go to in your own Senior year
of highschool. The Prom Committee helps organize the event, doing decorations and
sprucing up the Range. There is traditionally one band that plays the night, and other
musicians come help out as usual. The Prom Queen and King are a closely held secret
until the night of the Prom. Its a title that goes to a couple that gave “their all” to Slab
City over the year. Its about community spirit and volunteerism. I’m bringing this up here
because this is not an opportunity for fundraising for SCCG Inc. The pictures people
take can be used for sure, but not directly. I am also bringing it up now because this is
Prom Month (the prom is March 26. We need help decorating and painting. See Robin
and Bill for helping out.
